Hello if it does not power offon with the ignition i think that there is a gateway mismatch here. You should check wiring diagram on the headunit to confirm the wires on socket. When i put the car into reverse it goes to the regular camera screen on the rcd330 but no longer does it say no camera instead it just stays black. If i have the diagram i can change the plug wiring to enable these features with my new unit afaik. It seems impossible to get wiring diagrams now. I cannot comment on the steering controls since i have tsi comfortline.
If its rcd320 then you wont need simulator. If i can find the drawings a bit of wiring harness to adapt between the two will sort that.
